SCOTTDALE, Ga. - The recent arrest of Brandon Hatton in connection to a deadly shooting has left residents of Scottdale reeling. As someone who knew both the accused and the victim, I can't help but feel a mix of shock and sadness.
Brandon Hatton, a familiar face in our community, was taken into custody by the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office and the Georgia State Patrol SWAT team at the Sleep Inn on Fairington Road in Lithonia. Hatton, also known as Alias Scottdale and Brandon Leonard Hatton, had been in Ware State Prison for voluntary manslaughter, with his possible release date marked as December 24, 2023.
It's heartbreaking to hear that someone I've known has been charged with the malice murder of DeAngelo Ivey.
DeAngelo was also a part of our tight-knit neighborhood. His tragic death has left us all mourning the loss of a cherished member of our community.
